Nice Try

Call me naive, but I just don't see "Obama is the next Bush" label as sticking.

Here's The Next Right's John Henke throwing out the new Republican talking point and then later dismissing it. Also, as we know, a McCain economic adviser tried to start the rumor earlier last week. Setting off various other bloggers/writers/Republicans to repeat it. Their basis is that Obama, like Bush, would spend recklessly. Hardly. I understand the rights desperation to distance themselves from their leader and poster boy conservative, but all of Obama's spending plans-- all of them-- can be paid for 10 fold for the price it will cost for just one McCain plan: to stay in Iraq for 100 years. Apparently a hundred years in Iraq isn't reckless spending for the GOP.

In addition, there isn't one issue Obama and Bush agree on.
  • Social Security
  • Health care
  • Iraq
  • Iran
  • Taxes
  • Ethics
  • Education
  • The Economy
  • Gas Prices
On none of the above issues do Obama and Bush have the same policy or intent; or even the same ideological view towards the issues. If the Republicans want to bet '08 on such a tactic, I'm all for it. I don't see it gaining any traction and I don't see the GOP running their presidential campaign against their poster boy George Bush. That would be like Republicans running against Ann Coulter or Rush Limbaugh. They couldn't because they are the basis of their existence.

And will you please stop spouting the 100 years in Iraq quote and get some context? You know what McCain said.

Yes, McCain on numerous occasions has said that he's for staying in Iraq forever.
