You know I think McCain's top economic adviser is correct, we are a nation of whiners. We whine about $4 gas, about a stagnant Dow, about less than 1% growth, about unemployment going up, about poverty rising, about an endless war in Iraq, about a president with a 70% disapproval rating. I think Senator Gramm is dead on. We do whine, we have plenty to whine about.
I'm just glad McCain is finally being held to someone else's words. With McCain this is a very close adviser with a very important job.

This is classic. On the very same day McCain says that Senator Gramm doesn't speak for him, McCain sends Gramm to the Washington Post editorial board to speak for him. (h/t Think Progress)
Kind of reminds me of my friend Kent's suggestion that everything good for America is Republican. Essentially McCain wants people to believe that Gramm only speaks for him when he says something good.
