What's the GOP plan for lowering gas prices? More drilling. Why? Because drilling in ANWR and offshore will have an immediate impact on prices and combat our dependence on foreign oil. After that we have a contest to see who can invent a Super Battery. Yet there is no proof whatsoever that drilling will have an immediate impact. In fact, it's just plain wrong. That doesn't stop the GOP from peddling more drilling, however. When 75% of all Big Oil donations go to the GOP I can't help but think why Republicans would push such a untrue meme.
Next in the GOP operation manual is to spread fear. How do you get more drilling pushed through the MSM and into people's minds? You tell them that the communists are already drilling right off of our shores and that we better act quickly. Astonishingly there isn't one ounce of truth to that either. Yet that hasn't stopped the GOP and its bandwagon from trying to incite fear to increase our energy dependence on Big Oil. So far at least 12 Republicans not including Vice President Dick Cheney (who later recanted his fear mongering) have pushed the false narrative that China is drilling off the shores of Cuba. And so far Cheney is the only one to later retract his statements.
Amazingly, or not, at least 12 Republicans have made public statements that China is drilling off the shores of Cuba. Not once in the MSM have they been asked to show proof or asked why their comments do not square with Dick Cheney's retraction. They are allowed to knowingly spout lies while they campaign on moral values and Christian conservatism. When and if they are ever questioned about their lies their response is almost always nearly the same. That it's a liberal attack machine who only wants the terrorists to win. Or that it's unpatriotic in a time of war to question anything; or that anyone not wanting us to drill more obviously isn't serious and doesn't have a plan of their own. Question their patriotism with moral values and personal insults is their response. And they get away with it every time.
Fact checking they do not want because it would crumble away their Fantasy World. Instead their bandwagon takes their marching orders that more drilling will have an immediate effect and that China is already drilling of the shores of Cuba and away they go. Balloons in hand, they skip and jump under their bright blue sky.
