Dems To Let Drilling Ban Expire

Early on when taking over in 2007 the Democrats pushed through some hefty bills which have indeed helped a lot of Americans. If you pay student loans like me, getting your interest rate cut in half was rather nice. But since their 100 Hours plan, the Dems have sat idle and caved-in to President Bush on way too many occasions. Their decision to let a ban on offshore drilling expire I am applauding.

Even though it will take a decade for that oil to reach the market, it's still much needed relief to our addiction to foreign oil.  One thing I will push is that Congress pass legislation that mandates the new offshore oil be soled here in the states and not exported.  Such a bill is mandatory if that oil is to benefit the price of gasoline.
