Republican Economic Theory Explained

Asked today if we are in a recession, White House press secretary Dana Perino answered, "I don’t know — look, April, I don’t know if there’s — if we are in a recession right now." President Bush doesn't know if we are in recession. The Dow has lost over a 1,000 points in a week and he doesn't know if we are in a recession? And that, my friends, is Republican Economic Theory in its simplest form.

Ms. Perino's answer is not a made up one, it's the most truthful answer she could possibly give. For 8 years Bush has chosen not to know. It's not that he isn't capable, he just doesn't care. A recession to the GOP is unattainable logic because they do not operate in such conditions. To them the economy is as strong as ever. Every one of the Republican policies set forth these last 8 years can be summed up with "don't know."

Who was responsible for 9/11? Don't know, don't care.

Where is bin Laden? Don't know, don't care.

Why invade Iraq? Don't know, just do it.

What's the purpose of privatizing Social Security? Don't know, just do it.

Who is Jack Abramoff? Don't know.

What is the role of Homeland Security? Don't know.

What happened to the fired U.S. Attorney's? Don't know.

What's going on the with financial markets? Don't know.

Are we in a recession? Don't know, don't care.

Every single Republican policy can be summed up with "don't know." This is the legacy John McSame wants to continue. What surprises me more than anything is that 25% still support them.
