A Legacy of Lies

As George Bush tours around a world and a country whose only wish is that he would just leave office as soon as possible, he's desperately trying to get the final word in on what his legacy will be. Even though he led us into war without end under the premise that Iraq had WMD and that Iraq was involved in 9/11 and that al Qaeda was already operating in Iraq before 9/11-- all of which are total lies-- him and his remaining Reich of support also want us all to believe that we are merely guests in Iraq and not occupiers.

QUESTION: But he wasn’t a guest. We’re occupiers.

PERINO: No, we’re not. We are absolutely a guest.

It goes to show that almost 6 years into a three week war what Bush's legacy is going to be. It's hard to imagine it being anything else. In the clip above Dana Perino, Bush's spokesperson, tries to suggest that Bush being in Iraq to sign the SOFA agreement shows that we are not occupiers. But the Bush administration has already called the Agreement "aspirational." In other words, the Agreement that proves we are guests and not occupiers is only wishful thinking and the contained timeline for withdrawal of American forces doesn't have to be followed, according to Bush that is. Thankfully Bush and his miserably failed GOP won't get to make those decisions.

Despite all of Bush's lies and ramblings, and even his latest admission that al Qaeda was not in Iraq until after the American invasion, nothing could be further from the truth than to suggest we are guests in Iraq. George Bush thrusted the American public into war based on lies cheered on by a group of chickenhawks and a morally deprived media. His lying now is just a slap in the face to what he's done to this country the last 8 years.
