Obama Proposes $17 billion in Cuts

Classic Republican Fantasy World scenario. President Obama proposes $17 billion be cut from the federal budget totaling 121 proposed program in eliminations and curtailments. Fox News and the GOP mock it.

Fox News calls it a "modest" cut, claims Obama is taking a scalpel to the budget rather than an axe. Sen. Judd Gregg, (R-NH), the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, says he is not impressed and House Minority Leader John Boehner says he wants "far more" in the way of cuts. Where have they been for 8 solid years?

As predicted, Republicans have all of a sudden returned to being so-called fiscal conservatives again. Let's see what their track record of fiscal conservatism is when they are actually in power and have the means to live up to their inner-core principles: Not one single penny was ever cut from 8 George Bush budgets. Never, not one single time, did the GOP vote against a Bush budget allowing for the largest deficit in American history. At the hands of the GOP, the largest surplus in history was turned into the largest deficit in history. As if that's not enough to spoil any record of self-proclaimed conservatism, Republicans while in charge of the federal government instituted the largest socialist expansion of prescription drug coverage ever. Their 2006 budget contained over 14,000 pork projects and in 8 years not only did they not cut a single penny, they doubled federal spending!!

These are the same people telling us today that Obama's $17 billion in cuts is "modest" and doesn't go far enough. There is not one single reason to ever believe anything they say about conservatism or fiscal responsibility. They have absolutely no track record of ever living up to the principles they now demand from a Democratic president. Why they are in charge of anything is a gross joke to the country. They are masochistically sick, every last one of them.
