GOP Version of Respect

Let's see how Republicans offer their respect to the President of the United States.

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) angrily yells "you lie!" during the president's speech while Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL) walks out. These guys are great patriots. And we wonder why Tea Baggers act so rude and offensive. They get if from those they elect to Congress.

The last time George W. Bush stood before a joint session of Congress he had approval ratings in the mid-20s. Three-quarters of the population disapproved of the job he was doing. No president in history, not even Nixon, had such high disapproval ratings. His two terms were complete failures. Yet not one person in that joint session of elected American officials yelled that he was a liar or stood up and walked out on him because he wasn't saying things they agreed with. The man who led us to war on nothing but lies was never treated with such utter disrespect.

Republicans would have been the first to question anyone's patriotism that dared treat Bush the way they have Barack Obama. They would have been the first call what they did last night anti-Americanism. I'm not going to stoop to their level, but the GOP really should check themselves because right now they are on a path that is only going to lead them to an era of political failure not seen since the Civil War.
