I hate preseason rankings. I think it's a terrible idea to rank teams before they ever play and entirely based on last year's performance. Anyone remember Michigan State a couple years back?? What would be wrong with waiting at least three games before rankings come out? That way there's time to actually see a team play and win or lose. Preseason rankings skew the entire season and only favor rich programs. It's a very biased system.
This year's rankings are no different. I'm sure I could have named 9 out of the top 10 teams this year. I might not have been able to put them in their spots but I know I could have named who would be in the Top 10. The only team that really surprises me is Butler. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to see them in the 10 spot. It's just rare that small schools ever get there especially in preseason.
