Majority Leader Harry Reid announced today that the senate health care reform bill will have a public option, an opt-out and a trigger.
Obviously I'm all for the public option. Actually I'm all for a single payer system but a public option is doable. I also think the trigger is important but the opt-out I'm a little ambivalent towards. I think it's a great way to get votes. I also think it's a great way to let officials off the hook on a very important issue. I also think some states might actually opt-out leaving all of us doing this whole thing over again in a few years. I suppose my hangup is if states opt-out, how do they opt-back?
