When Right Wingers Attack

Something totally off the MSM radar is the terror attack that happened last week when a right wing extremist flew an airplane into a federal building in Austin, Texas. In the past when people who had grievances against the American government flew planes into buildings it was no doubt an act of terrorism. Such an act has led us to be bogged down in a 9 year war in Afghanistan and a 7 year war in Iraq. Even in the latter's case, Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks yet we invaded anyway. This time it was a two day story that is being shrugged off by Republicans and even joked about.

And then we also have Great Patriot Steven King of Iowa saying the attack isn't entirely without reason because it will be a great day in America when the IRS is abolished.

The most evident distinction between what happened on 9/11 and last week in Texas was the guy in Austin wasn't Muslim. If he had been, no doubt Republicans would be up in arms about it. But since it was one of their Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Fox News inspired people they want it totally forgotten. It's sickening they can praise one set of attacks on the government and want to wage endless war because of the other.

The point of this is to show just how messed up the GOP is when it comes to enticing revolt and violence in this country. Not only did Rep. Steve King sympathize with the attack and others at the Republican convention tell jokes about it, the family of the terrorist who flew the plane along with others on the right are trying to paint the guy as a hero. The real American hero in all this is one of the people he killed with his suicide bombing was a two-tour Vietnam Veteran who had faithfully served his country. And just like in the GOP where people like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh who have never served this country a day in their lives are considered Great American Tough Guy Patriots, so too is the person who flies airplanes into buildings that also never served a day in his life for his country. All he ever did was watch Fox News all day and that's enough for Republicans to brush aside his terrorism. Disgusting.
