On Schedule

President Obama's plan for all combat divisions to leave Iraq by August 31, 2010 is on schedule.  The last remaining combat division left Iraq yesterday leaving behind an additional 50,000 non-combat support troops. 

Amazing to say to the least is that in 2008 something like this would have been a huge story.  Today it's a blurred mention in a mix of stories about rising unemployment rates, a slowing economy and rising voter anger at incumbent Democrats.

While we are busy discussing unimportant things like Muslim centers in Manhattan, it's important to also remember that our invasion of Iraq was totally in response to the attacks of 9/11.  It was a war of choice engaged by a bunch of a madmen and celebrated by cowards.  Nothing the administration led us to believe about Iraq turned out to be true.  It was a colossal error that serves as an example of what right wing hysteria leads to.
