- Mortgage relief on the way? New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman calls today's mortgage relief package a "down payment towards the overall goal of accountability," and a small step in the right direction.
- A "small step" because the package is aimed at about $25 billion and the overall mortgage default equity is about $700 billion. In other words, much smaller than the trillions the feds gave the banks. Money for ordinary, average Americans though is much harder to push through Congress.
