RALEIGH, N.C. — Barack Obama’s campaign plans to use the four-day Democratic National Convention next week to relentlessly portray John McCain as a carbon copy of President Bush, in a strategic shift foreshadowed by two days of tougher attacks on his GOP rival.Like I said a few weeks ago, how is comparing John McCain to the current two term Republican president an attack? By saying that it's an attack Republicans, and dare I say Fox News, are agreeing that Bush is extremely unpopular, a burden and a total failure. Dare they specifically say that though. Instead they want it both ways. They want to be able to say Obama is going negative, or as FNC is putting it-- on the ATTACK-- but they don't want to agree that comparing McCain to Bush can't possibly be viewed as negative unless, well unless of course Bush is a total failure.
The criticism itself, which will focus on the Arizona senator’s economic policies, ties to lobbyists and decades-long tenure in Washington, is not new. But the intensity of the attacks is — and it is meant to minimize the heavy emphasis on Obama’s charisma-driven campaign.
This is just another way Republicans want to be able to conduct an election without mentioning George Bush. They only want Obama mentioned. Nothing can be said about the last 8 years and nothing can be said about McCain's constant flip-flops. A screen shot of Fox's website says it all.
Someone really needs to ask how calling John McCain the same as George Bush can be considered an attack, especially when McCain has ads up comparing Obama to oversexed and overpartied white women.
