Greg Sargent and Eric Kleefield do a little digging into McCain's campaign finance reports and discover that multiple oil company executives donated to McCain just days after his huge flip flop on offshore drilling. And the two dig a little further to discover that a middle management office employee, Alice Rocchio, also donated $28,500 to McCain. As if that's not enough to garner some attention, turns out the middle management office employee's husband, who works for Amtrak also donated $28,500. That means the husband and wife duo combined for a whopping $57,000 to McCain. I'd almost be willing to be that my wife and I make more than the Rocchio's and there's no way we could donate $57,000 to a presidential campaign.
Sargent and Kleefield also note that the Rocchio's live in middle-class Flushing, Queens and rent their home. They can afford to donate $57,000 to John McCain but can't afford to buy their own home? Surely Big Oil Executives aren't funneling money through their employees to John McCain are they? No, Republicans would never break the law.
