Thank God For Glorious War

With the Russian invasion of its neighbor the neocons are foaming at the mouth and once again tripping over their keyboards. All of us must remember that the neoconservative movement was born out of the liberal left wing almost primarily for its militant vision of the Cold War. The liberals were too easy on the commies so a faction whose foreign policy stance was even to the right of the conservatives broke off and formed neoconservatism. The neocons have long wished for war with Russia. Now that Russia is on the move again, this time attacking its much weaker neighbor to force regime change and to control some oil fields (sound familiar?), the neocons see this as their dream come true.

War cheerleader and Chickenhawk Bill Kristol: "... we owe Georgia a serious effort to defend its sovereignty. Surely we cannot simply stand by as an autocratic aggressor gobbles up part of — and perhaps destabilizes all of — a friendly democratic nation."

Warblogger and Glorious War Chickenhawk Hugh Hewitt: "The U.S. needs to rush relief to Georgia and to continue the blunt condemnation of the Russians."

More Glorious War Supporter John Barry: "The 82nd Airborne, its brigades newly returned from Iraq, could be mustered as a guarantor force. Numbers are not critical. What matters is the message: the Soviet-style attack on Georgia will not to be dismissed Chamberlain-style."

And just think, these are the same people leading John McCain's foreign policy.
