On the surface I'm against this newest stimulus package. It's just a band aid. We can't afford another $50 billion. We already have the largest deficit in history and the largest tax and spend president in history. Add in our socialist expansion project in Iraq and we can't sustain another stimulus package. Instead of spending $10 billion a month building roads and schools in Iraq we should be spending that money here on our own people. That would do more to boost the economy than a short term stimulus package. We need a long-term economic policy; something this country hasn't had during our 8 long years of Republican Rule.
I see no reason to bail out more failing banks or more failing businesses. Today's economy is the result of George Bush and his Republican Party. Throwing money at the problem isn't going to fix it. It's time for real policy change and real attention to the substance of the problem-- Republicans have had 8 years to lay out their direction for America. What we have today is the product of their vision. That's the substance of the problem.
