527's Returning?

Greg Sargent has a nice rundown about outside groups returning to help Obama's Campaign. I must admit I have no clue what the best option is in this matter.  In June Obama swore off 527 group help and even asked MoveOn to close down its 527 spending operation for the campaign. Technically, Obama didn't ask any other group to hold off on ad spending so it would be possible for other progressive groups to go ahead and spend money on ads in battleground states.  That's a loose interpretation of it at least.  Although if outside groups do start running ads the media will hammer him for breaking his quasi-pledge.  Like I said, he didn't close down other ad spending operations but the MSM would never make that distinction.  It would be the Rev. Wright story all over again.
