Trampling Democracy

Come to think of it, what's John McCain really going to debate? If he doesn't say that he's for us staying in Iraq for 100 years, and that he's for less regulation, and that the economy is strong, and that George Bush has been a successful president--if he doesn't say all that then he's totally flip-flopping on national television. I can understand not wanting to debate your policies when they are so entirely wrong and unpopular.

But, also, not wanting to debate is so typically Republican it's not even funny. Questions are not to be asked of Republicans, as evident from George Bush giving the fewest press conferences in history, of how Palin has been hidden from the national press corp, and how John McCain has talked to the press only once in over a month. To be honest, the GOP is probably in total shock that a) Congress didn't immediately cave to Bush's bail out and is still refusing to just shut up and abide, and b) Obama didn't immediately agree to suspending the campaigns and succumb to McCain's demands that the debate be postponed. Being told no and having to answer for their actions isn't something the Republofascists are used to.  I'm sure they are furious that they aren't getting their way.

Cancelling the debate is also just another way for the Republofascists to trample democracy. What better time to debate America's future or America's answer to our current crisis then right now? But debate is not what the GOP wants. They want a $700 billion bail out for corporations only with no questions asked. If it's a matter to be debated they will try every trick in the book to suggest that what they are doing is so important and imperative for the future and security of this nation that they are only trying to protect us all and questioning their actions is equivalent to treason.
