McCain Suspends Campaign

The man who has missed 65% of the votes in the Senate (more than any other member) wants to suspend his campaign to return to Washington to work on the financial crisis. He also wants to postpone Friday night's debate. Nine days ago John McCain refused to admit there was a crisis. He called our economy strong and bragged about all the deregulation he helped bring about as senator. Just three days ago he published an article stating that he was so proud of the economy that we ought to model our health care system after it. Out of touch is too kind of a phrase to describe this man.

If you can't face a debate, how can you face al Qaeda? There's no reason to delay the debates. But it's also not going to help McCain any if it is postponed. This is a win-win for Obama.

Something else so very typical of the modern GOP is that McCain announced his decision in a prerecorded prepared statement. How dare anyone get to ask a Republican a question. We're supposed to follow and shut up. Obama is expected to accept the plea and do as the GOP tells him. If not Obama will be painted by Fox News as someone who doesn't care about the economy. It's all rather ridiculous.
