I gotta be honest, the right wing scorn I'm seeing all over the place for John McCain's performance the other night is scary. Just think four years ago the right wing claimed their candidate sat at the right hand of God and today they can't wait for him to lose. What a difference a miserable failure presidency can make.
But what is it that is making the right wing so mad? Is it McCain's policy proposals? After all the guy did propose another tax payer funded bailout last night worth an additional $300 billion. I've long argued that Republicans could care less about policy, it's personal attacks they want. Bush ran as a fiscally conservative, budget-keen president that would shrink government and tighten its budgets. That's how he ran. His policies of the last 8 years have been anything but; nonetheless, he said all the things Republicans wanted to hear while campaigning. Policies are not their concern, politics is.
Republicans are angry with John McSame because he didn't attack Obama enough last night. They wanted McCain to compare Obama to the anti-Christ. They want Obama called a terrorist and a Muslim to his face. They want Rev. Wright mentioned every other word. McCain didn't do that, and that's why he has fallen from whatever grace he may have had in the GOP. For a solid year Republicans have been fed from the filthy troughs of Rush Limbaugh and Fox News that Obama is a terrorist Muslim with sleeper cells waiting for the right moment to attack. They've been fed their Fantasy World garbage that American mainstream beliefs are right wing beliefs when they are not-- they absolutely are not. These are things they want McCain to say, and it may come to a point where McCain will finally be forced to say such things but for right now it's left to Sarah Palin and Fox News to keep up the attacks.
The lying lies of Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, Sean Hannity, Hugh Hewitt and Neal Boortz have diluted the Republican Party to a fringe extreme of what used to be a formidable political party. The GOP has been hijacked by hate-filled talk radio and right wing media sources whose only purpose is to spread smear after smear. It's evidenced by the venom that continues to boil at McCain/Palin rallies.
Since Monday fanatic attendees have been heard yelling "kill him," "terrorist," and "off with his head," when the McCain/Palin ticket has referenced Democratic candidate Sen. Barack Obama. Really, the only thing that separates a democracy from fascism is a war and fanaticism. The Republicans have given us the wars and now they're supplying the fanatics.
