My first thoughts are to never let Gwen Ifill moderate another debate again. I'm not sure if she was that bad on purpose because of the whole Obama book thing or if she is just that bad of a moderator.
The rules change the McCain Camp forced in the last minutes certainly helped Palin and maybe that's why Ifill seemed less than stellar.
Some of my other thoughts
I thought Biden did what he had to do. He didn't appear demeaning and he didn't get caught up in his usual rhetorical blunders. He hammered McCain more than anything and I think that was important.
I do think he could have picked up on Palin's ridiculous answers more than he did. Palin got the name of the general in Afghanistan wrong numerous times. Biden never said a word. She answered the question about the bailout with an answer on taxes-- that made absolutely no sense. She called for the power of the vice presidency to be expanded and even one time mentioned that main street was to blame for the financial crisis. I'm assuming she meant to say Wall St.
I'm sure the right wing is giving this debate to Palin simply because she got all her points across about McCain being a maverick and her little taunt to the MSM. That's all the right wing wants and that's all they want her to say.
This debate, however, goes squarely to Biden.
