Oh Now You're Jack Kennedy?

Earlier I said my favorite Biden line was about Mittens running away from his home state where he's down 20 points in the polls.  I was wrong.  That was my second favorite line.  My new favorite line I almost forgot about.

This is epic.  I have no doubts this will go down as one of the best smack downs in any American political debate since it was first coined in 1988 by Lloyd Bensten.

Absolutely an epic performance by Biden.

Biden Crushes Ryan

Thank God for Joe Biden.

I've longed said I like Joe Biden.  He's one of my favorite politicians ever.  Tonight was classic Joe.

Some quick words before I go to bed.

I've been reading that the foreign policy section was a draw.  I totally disagree.  I think Biden held it in every aspect.  He didn't need to thump Ryan over and over again on foreign policy.  From the get-go domestic issues were of importance and talking too much on foreign policy would only take time away from domestics.  The only thing I wish Biden would have said or mentioned was when Ryan said their goal in Iran was to "prevent war."  Prevent a war by bombing Iran, mind you.  All Biden had to say was the last time America engaged in a preventive war it was with Iran's neighbor and it cost us over $1 trillion of hard earned tax payer money and thousands of lives of our men and women in uniform and dang near a decade to get out.  Another Bush policy is not what this country needs.  Time for America to move forward.

Domestic issues Biden owned hands down.  On Ryan's tax math, Ryan left with his tail between his legs; just like the little boy he is.  I think at one point the moderator was even asking Ryan to explain it better.  How sad.

Tonight, though, Uncle Joe did everything he needed to do.  No doubt he's got it all under control.

*Update:

My favorite Biden line of the night.   "Why isn't he even contesting Massachusetts?"  You know the state where Mittens used to be governor...the state where people supposedly like him and where he's down 20 points in the polls.

Need Joe Biden

Nielsen says VP Biden's convention speech was the most watched of any including the GOP convention.

This is not surprising to me.  Biden had a nice prime time spot.  Plus I like Joe Biden.  I like him more than I do the president.  Biden and Schumer have long been two of my favorite politicians.  Glad to see Joe getting some love.

U.S. Landed on Moon Because of Joe Biden

Hey if Romney can take credit for bailing out the auto industry and still be a serious contender for president, Joe Biden ain't gonna be outdone.

Biden Apologizes for Holding Reporter in Closet

While covering a fund raising event at the home of Alan Ginsburg for Vice President Biden, Orlando Sentinel reporter Scott Powers was kept in a closet until the Veep arrived. And then sent back to the closet after Biden left.

Biden Gives Rosey Picture on Iraq

Joe Biden is famous for his gaffes, but this one is super stupid.
(CNN) -- Vice President Joe Biden delivered an optimistic assessment of the political situation in Iraq on Monday, predicting the successful formation of a new unity government in Baghdad and declaring that attempts by al Qaeda to inflame sectarian tensions have "utterly failed."
Biden must have channeled his inner right wing because over 100,000 dead Iraqis and over 4,000 dead American troops doesn't equal utter failure. Also, considering al Qaeda or its representatives were not in Iraq before we invaded, their presence symbolizes just how wrong it was to invade that country.

Why do they even let this guy out in public?

Post Debate Wrap-Up

My first thoughts are to never let Gwen Ifill moderate another debate again. I'm not sure if she was that bad on purpose because of the whole Obama book thing or if she is just that bad of a moderator.

The rules change the McCain Camp forced in the last minutes certainly helped Palin and maybe that's why Ifill seemed less than stellar.

Some of my other thoughts

I thought Biden did what he had to do. He didn't appear demeaning and he didn't get caught up in his usual rhetorical blunders. He hammered McCain more than anything and I think that was important.

I do think he could have picked up on Palin's ridiculous answers more than he did. Palin got the name of the general in Afghanistan wrong numerous times. Biden never said a word. She answered the question about the bailout with an answer on taxes-- that made absolutely no sense. She called for the power of the vice presidency to be expanded and even one time mentioned that main street was to blame for the financial crisis. I'm assuming she meant to say Wall St.

I'm sure the right wing is giving this debate to Palin simply because she got all her points across about McCain being a maverick and her little taunt to the MSM. That's all the right wing wants and that's all they want her to say.

This debate, however, goes squarely to Biden.

I'm just going to quit scoring this one. It's not even over and I'll just give it to Biden. It's almost as if Sarah Palin has pounded in her head certain phrases and key words and that's all she knows. It's getting so annoying listening to her repeating the same things over and over. I think Biden has done well at keeping his mouth shut and not appearing demeaning towards Palin.

Conservatives are going to yell and cheer for Palin's performance tonight but in all honesty this election isn't going to be decided on the Vice Presidency. The sooner Sarah Palin shuts up the better.

*Update:

If Palin calls McCain a maverick one more time or refers to her and him as the maverick team, I'm going to throw up.

**Update:

Item the MSM really needs to ask follow-up some questions on is the fact that Sarah Palin wants to increase the power of the vice presidency.

Palin Promises To Give First Interview

Two weeks after being picked as John McCain's running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin has finally agreed to do a sit down interview with a major news outlet. Earlier McCain Campaign manager Rick Davis said that Palin would not do any sit downs until she was comfortable and until she would be respected by the MSM. If Joe Biden had said that he wasn't doing any interviews until he felt comfortable and felt like people liked him the right wing media and its circle jerk chickenhawks would have been all over that. Instead when Palin says she's not ready to give interviews it's a "smart" move by the GOP to keep her in an undisclosed location until she's ready. This only proves how unready she is and how unqualified she is to be the vice president. She has one national speech and that is the limit of her federal experience, one speech. Democrats would never be allowed to get away with such. There is no way Joe Biden could have went and hid crying that he's not ready for the cameras and the shark media and that he wouldn't be ready until the press promised to treat him with dignity. It wouldn't happen with the Dems. But for the Republicans it's "smart" and it works every time.
