Just some thoughts on Obama's cabinet picks. First off I'm not real thrilled with keeping Gates on. But I'm not totally against it either. I think keeping Gates through the first transition year is a smart move and will ease some of the burden on a new administration. Hillary as SoS, if it happens, amazes me. Why would she want the job? She has the safest senate seat in America and, I think, could make much more of an impact in the senate but I have no doubt she will make an excellent SoS. She's good at everything she puts her mind to and she'll be a refreshing change from Condi Rice. With Obama it will be about carrying out his policies. I think-- no I know-- he'll put together a team that will work for him. Having worked for Obama I can tell you he is very meticulous when it comes to policy and results. He's not just gonna sit there and be the "commander guy." He'll work and he'll expect everyone else to work just as hard as him. He loves the concept of a team and the concept of debate and discussion but in the end if you're not carrying out his goals or his policy, he'll politely send you on your way.
