Working Together?

Why is it the Democrats have to be the Party to work with the minority opposition? The GOP is on the brink of total annihilation and Barack Obama is meeting with the person whom he soundly defeated to bring about unity. Makes no sense to me. Did George Bush meet with Al Gore, the person who actually won the popular vote, to hatchet out unity? No. Did Bush meet with John Kerry, a person he beat by less than 2%? No. But now, all of a sudden, it's time to unify. Whatever. If there's ever been a president elected to bring about change and to enforce his party's policies it's Barack Obama. Fortunately President-elect Obama doesn't listen to me and he's doing the right thing by meeting with McCain in order to bring the country together. It's the right thing to do and it's something the GOP did not do and would never think about doing because in their world it only shows weakness.
