Share of National Income is the One Chart You Should Look at Today

Since the total national humiliation of Republican Richard Nixon, any time a Republican has been president worker's share of national income has fallen. But nothing has been more substantial than it did during the humiliation of 8 years of George W. Bush.

8 years of Reagan was bad enough for workers.  Compared to Bush's tenure it looks like a worker's paradise.  We haven't experienced anything like the wage slump over the last decade since the Great Depression.  If you want to know why consumer spending, consumer confidence, and public investment is down, this chart is all you need to know.  Wages have not kept up with the economy. Returning to Reagan-Bush policies right now would be suicide.
