I really wish Republicans would concede the fact that not everyone on food stamps is black. In fact, most Black Americans are not on food stamps. With that comes the understanding that there are way more White Americans on food stamps than Black. Once you realize that, then it becomes even easier to understand that there are millions more white people living in poverty in this country than black or brown.
So that presents us with the very clear understanding that food stamps, poverty, unemployment is very much a color-blind issue. Yet those seeking the GOP nomination for president see it first and foremost as an issue the Black Community must reject and reform.
I would take Republicans understanding this basic fact of 21st century America over anything else.
