Allowing oil drilling in U.S. offshore waters that are now closed to energy exploration would do little to lower gasoline prices paid by consumers, the government's top energy forecaster said on Wednesday.I'm sure this will effect the McSame campaign none. It's really the same thing they did during the run up to the Iraq war. They cherry pick government data to sell us some bogus excuse for lining their pocketbooks. Anyone who questions them is obviously anti-American and wants us to be forever dependent on foreign oil. Then in a few years when their bogus claims about offshore drilling are proven wrong by even higher gas prices, they'll try to rewrite history to suggest that drilling offshore was the right thing to do.

"It would be a relatively small effect, because it would take such a long time to bring those supplies on," Caruso said during a briefing at the Center for Strategic and International Studies on the EIA's new long-term international energy forecast. "It doesn't affect prices that much."
No Offshore Benefit
Yet more proof from the government's very own Energy Information Administration that Bush and McCain's insistence offshore drilling would lower gas prices is completely false.
