STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- Joe Paterno, the Penn State football coach who preached success with honor for half a century but whose legend was shattered by a child sex abuse scandal, said Wednesday he will retire at the end of this season. This is really a disgusting story unfolding at Penn State. I'm no Penn State fan by any means. But I am a big college football fan. So I don't understand how such a legendary program can be responsible for such a pathetic and disgusting story. Anyone with a pulse would have to be concerned if one of your co-workers or employees was reported to be raping a 10 year old boy in the bathroom of your workplace. Dear God how could that not cause you to take a little bit of responsibility if for no other reason than to make sure the story wasn't true.
I see no reason Coach Paterno should be allowed to finish coaching the season. He should be out and should be forced to answer as to why he did not do more to prevent all of this from happening in the first place.
