GOP Bar Women From Testifying About Birth Control

Citing completely bogus concerns about religious freedom, House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) refused to allow women to testify to the committee about birth control.  Instead the committee heard testimony from an all-male panel.

This is really quite archaic.  The government mandate would not force women to take contraception.  It doesn't force anyone to take it.  It simply forces providers to offer to all women that want to take it.  Therefore, those with religious concerns about taking contraception won't ever have to do anything.  They can continue to do whatever it is they want.  This is not about religious liberty since no one who claims they are against birth control on religious grounds will be forced to use it.  And even the president's latest compromise has excluded religious providers from supplying birth control to women who want it.

The whole thing is a joke.  The GOP pretending to care about morality should be enough to make a person sick.  And women who care about their rights that aren't furious with the GOP right now really should start paying attention or go find a kitchen to stand in.
