Austerity as Practiced by the Big Gov Republicans

I can't help but think the best way to handle claims that the way to grow our economy is to shrink the federal government's fingerprint is to simply remind voters that Republicans are delusional and only love talking about cutting spending, shrinking government and reining in the debt.  They've never actually done any of that.  In fact, they've never come close to even attempting to do it.  They just like to talk about doing it.

Granted the whole Confidence Fairy is bogus.  I agree.  But why not retort with a simple expression that gets the point across as clear as possible:  Listening to Republicans talk about fiscal responsibility is like listening to Jeffrey Dahmer saying he cared for his victims.
