Romney's Call for More Big Government Spending
In order to clear my head, I have to return to Mittens' convention speech one more time. The speech and the convention itself was a blast at what Republicans refer to as Big Government. Their ticking debt clock was the visual undertaking of such excess government.
In their world they somehow still believe they are the party of Small Government and Fiscal Conservatism. Nearly every speech given at the convention alluded to these delusional principles. Romney's was no different. The truth is just like Bush, and Reagan before him, and Nixon before him, and Eisenhower before him, Republican Mitt Romney has no plans of shrinking government and paying down the debt.
Romney's closing that was widely applauded by the rank and file Repubs in attendance went like this:
"That America, that united America, will preserve a military that is so strong, no nation would ever dare to test it. That America, that united America, will uphold the constellation of rights that were endowed by our Creator, and codified in our Constitution. That united America will care for the poor and the sick, will honor and respect the elderly, and will give a helping hand to those in need. That America is the best within each of us. That America we want for our children."
Now how in the world do you preserve a military that is already the strongest military ever known to mankind? Well you just keep spending more and more money that's how. It's a call for more spending. Factually speaking, in 2001 our military was then the strongest and most powerful force in human history and bin Laden had no problems testing it then. To think that you can build a military so strong no nation would ever dare to test it is a pipe dream. It's merely a call to spend money, nothing more.
How can we possibly care for the poor and sick, give a helping hand to those in need? Spend money that's how. Romney is talking how his administration would operate, not individuals in general. Under his America, the government would care for the poor and sick and reach out to those in need. I'm not against any of that. I support such social programs that do exactly that. And so does Big Government Romney. The whole thing is just another example of the Big Debt-Ridden Government Romney wants to create. And they applaud and cheer it just so long as a Democrat isn't in charge.
