Nothing too controversial about that is there? Well conservative supporters of Justice Thomas are leading a charge against Obama's answer saying that Obama is using old talking points and anti-intellectual arguments against Thomas. Fox News did a superb article on conservative reaction to Obama's answer. It seems the only good answer to conservatives was McCain's answer and that is get rid of everyone who doesn't think the way they do.
The problem with McCain's answer is that it's a lie. Conservatives would rather praise a lie than have to tolerate something they don't agree with. Senator John McCain voted to confirm 3 of the 4 people he said shouldn't have been nominated. Conservatives do not care about that, though. To them it's all about saying the right things. It's all about being told what they want to hear. It's not about how a person would govern, as we can visibly see in our current conservative Republican president, it's about talking macho and saying the things conservatives need to hear in order to feel tough and masculine. In the Republican Fantasy World it's much better for a candidate to lie about how they would govern than it is to be honest and say something they don't agree with. Shouldn't the outcry from conservatives/Republicans be that their candidate can't tell the same story twice? And shouldn't the outcry be not that the left of center candidate doesn't like only one of the right of center Justices, but that McCain doesn't want any of the moderate to liberal Justices, not to mention that he voted to confirm them.
