I have no doubt that many tough talking Republican Revolutionaries! like Erickson in the post below, or whatever other wackos currently makeup the GOP, will indeed boisterously cheer on Rep. Wilson's tirade last night. Some will condemn it like John McCain rightfully did last night, but most will chest thump Rep. Wilson and hold him up as the next great Revolutionary!. Just like with the Palin lie where she cognitively wrote that President Obama wants to setup death panels, which is just not true, Wilson's pathetic outburst last night will be all Republicans need to prove their case that Obama wants to give illegal aliens free health care. The real liar, though, is Joe Wilson.
Both Fact Check and PolitiFact have debunked the lie. Just like with "death panels" it won't matter to Republicans. Facts do not concern them. Right now they are proud of what Wilson did. He proves that they are true Freedom Fighting Warriors and that Barack Obama is so dishonest and so untrustworthy that a true Patriot had to call him out on it right on the floor. His deed is done.
I couldn't possibly imagine what these very same tough talking Republicans would be saying if a Democrat did the same thing to Bush. As disliked as Bush was, more so than any president in modern history mind you, he was never treated the way Obama was last night. Thanks again Republicans for bringing us to a new low.
*Update:
Rep. Joe Wilson personally called the White House last night to apologize. I wanted to make sure I noted that. I think an apology on the House Floor is something he should consider too. But I am glad to see he is genuinely sorry for his behavior. And I think it ends with that.
He's sorry that he burst out like he did, but as you can see in this video he began defending his claim that the president is lying.
His deed is done. He's sorry he acted like a total fool but he stands by his comment. It's really all Republicans will need to continue this newest talking point that President Obama wants to give free health care to illegal aliens. Facts will concern them none at all. And just like with "death panels" we'll be discussing free health care for illegals for the next two months.
**Update:
Sarah Palin issues Facebook statement about the president's speech. Stands by her "death panel" claims and accuses people who call it a lie of lacking civility, specifically the president.
"In his speech the President directly responded to concerns I've raised about unelected bureaucrats being given power to make decisions affecting life or death health care matters," Palin wrote. "He called these concerns "bogus," "irresponsible," and "a lie" -- so much for civility."
