No person in their right mind would ever pay attention to anything Glenn Beck says. Only in America can someone as dishonest and sad as him be a millionaire. And only on Fox News can someone as lunatic fringe as Beck be their main attraction. Beck's latest rant, however, is remarkably stupid and only adds more fantasy to a World that already suffers from manic hallucinations.
Beck, in all his right wing glory, announces to his fellow Tea Baggers that present-day progressives would have been considered "tyrants" by our Founding Fathers and, later in time, "called slave owners." Oh my.
It's hard to imagine anything more lunatic stupid than this. Our Founding Fathers were progressives. The most progressive thing anyone could believe in the 18th century was that man does not need to be ruled by a monarchy. Tyranny in the colonial days were the loyalists who rejected the Revolution and believed America should remain under the control of a king thousands of miles away. The Founding Fathers were obviously not inclined to conservative thought and pushed a progressive if not liberal ideology that eventually founded a new nation and a new government.
As if that's not enough to put to rest modern Republican idiocy all delivered via Fox News, there's also the very well known fact that many Founding Fathers were slave owners!! Beck is actually trying to argue that modern progressives would have been considered the most viral practitioners of a horrific act by the very people who actually owned slaves. Not only is it beyond dumb to think people who owned slaves would be so repulsed by modern day progressives that they would call them "slave owners," but those advocating abolition were PROGRESSIVES. So there is no way that conservatives who owned slaves and did not want anything to change would be calling people who wanted slavery to end and wanted government to ensure its destruction "slave owners."
