Polite Company Only Applies to Republicans

The best part about the BBC story I mentioned below talking about Mitt Romney's cousin calling Mormonism a cult is where the evil tree hugging liberals that didn't vote for George Bush have to abide by "polite company" rules.
Such accusations are rarely heard in the US, a nation founded on the principle of freedom of religion.
"It's not something you're supposed to talk about," says Prof Robert Putnam of Harvard Kennedy School.
"Whenever the issue of Romney's Mormonism has come to the surface, there's been lots of condemnation across the political spectrum for raising the issue of his religion," says Putnam.
"I'm not saying it's not relevant, but it's not talked about in polite company."
You mean after all this time, the near half decade we've spent discussing about Obama's religion we weren't supposed to?  This is really quite insane actually.  If Obama were a Mormon all we would hear about is his belief that the Garden of Eden is in Jackson County, Missouri. Or about how he believes God lives on Planet Kolob.  Or about how he belongs to the only organized religion to ever wage war against the American government.  Or about how he believes in false prophets like Joseph Smith.  Since Romney is a Republican we don't get to talk about that stuff.  It's impolite because we have freedom of religion in this country.  No we have double standards and Republicans get to pick who abides by what.
