Negotiations Prevail

The neocons are spewing every imaginable curse word about this one, but TALKS with North Korea have proven successful. So successful that President Bush today suspended sanctions against North Korea- the first step in normalizing relations between the two countries.

Republicans are going to rightly applaud this announcement by Bush as a success. And of course it is. It's a success brought about by engaging a terrorist supporting nuke loving enemy nation with TALKS. When Barack Obama says he would TALK with Iran, the right wing exploded. But when George Bush sends his diplomats to North Korea, a country we are actually still at war with, the right talks about how strong of a leader he is.

Fact of the matter is that there is a huge difference between TALKING and capitulation. Iran and Syria, just like North Korea, needs to be engaged with negotiations long before we ever talk about waging Glorious War on them.

But this won't stop the right wing from saying that Obama wants to compromise with terrorists. It's impossible for people in the Republican Fantasy World to see that what Obama is proposing is the very same treatment Bush has been given North Korea for 6 years.
