Fiscal Conservatism at Work, GOP Style

After increasing his staff's payroll by 81% since 2001, incoming Majority Leader Eric Cantor now says he deserves credit for recognizing the out of control congressional salaries and being willing to do something about it.  Huh??

That's like Julian Assange saying he recognizes there is a governmental leaking problem and wants to fix it.  It's crazy.

Cantor and Republicans have been arguing for a year that salaries on Capitol Hill are too high.  Well, that's because they are the people raising them!!

- Tea bagger extraordinaire Michelle Bachmann's payroll has skyrocketed 16% in two years!!

- Rep. Jason Chaffetz, the Utah Republican set to chair the House subcommittee overseeing the federal work force, says Washington must "figure out how to do more with less." But the freshman lawmaker gave his own employees an average raise of about 9 percent this year.

- Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who has long criticized federal pay, has overseen an average jump of 8 percent per year in his office employee costs between 2006, his first full year in the Senate, and 2009.

It takes a very sick person to go out and yell and scream against something that you are the very cause of.
