One of the most beautiful and cognitive write ups about government's role in modern society that captures just how convoluted and hypocritical the supposed opposition has become that I maybe have ever read.
In short, the Chamber of Commerce is one of the largest conservative-supporting organizations in the country. It spends a vast majority of its time supporting Republicans for office, raising money and donating to political organizations. There's nothing wrong with this at all. It's a perfectly legit organization and thing to do.
The Chamber, however, also plays a large role in confusing the public into thinking Big Government is wrong, only comes from Democrats and has greatly expanded during the Obama administration. In reality, the Chamber loves government and it can't support Big Government quick enough simply because keeping money flowing is in their best interest. Again, nothing wrong with supporting your interests. But painting one side as destroying the foundations of American society via Big Government all the while benefiting from the very same government spending is morally wrong. It further adds to the confusion we talked about here and keeps hidden from the public a government that actually works well at solving some problems for both sides.
Just like the GOP, the Chamber is no denier of Big Government. Why this is kept such a secret, or ignored, is getting ridiculous.
