Bill O'Reilly Is Not a Journalist

Let's forget for a second that super tough guy Bill O'Reilly is not a journalist. His experience and background is in tabloid gossip, not journalism. It's also no secret that he's a registered Republican and a right wing idol. And neither is he a supporter of Democratic candidate Barack Obama. Yet Obama goes on his show anyway and agrees to be interviewed. As lopsided and retarded as O'Reilly's interview was, could any of us imagine John McCain doing an interview with someone he knows is not going to give him snowball questions and someone who publicly bashes him daily? Of course not because Republicans would never do such.

Last week John McCain canceled on Larry King Live because he said the network was being too critical of Sarah Palin. Moreover, the McCain Camp has denied any interview of Palin until she is respected and "comfortable" enough for an interview. If there are those who think Bill O'Reilly is a bona fide journalist and that his interview of Obama was fair, then at least acknowledge that O'Reilly is indeed critical of Obama. The constant inference in the interview by O'Reilly of Obama being a socialist bent on class warfare should suffice. Then imagine John McCain sitting down for an interview with someone just as critical and just as biased and someone who just happens to be a registered Democratic tabloid journalist. It wouldn't happen. The GOP would never allow such to happen. They want fluff interviews and snowball questions or there is no interview.

Say what you will about Obama but the guy is much more open to scrutiny and criticism than McCain, Bush, Cheney, Palin or the GOP as a whole could ever be. That's the way a democracy is supposed to work. This bull crap that our Leaders are ordained by God and never to be questioned is not an American principal in the least. Somehow Republicans think their Party members are above media scrutiny but insist and cheer when Obama sits down for an interview with a non-journalist and called a socialist.
