McConnell Says It, Keeps Proving Me Right

(Reuters) - The top Republican in the Senate said on Tuesday that a "real solution" to the country's mounting debt is probably not possible as long as President Barack Obama remains in office.

"After years of discussions and months of negotiations, I have little question that as long as this president is in the Oval Office a real solution is probably unattainable," Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said on the Senate floor.
-----------------

Not sure it can get any clearer than that.  McConnell has said many times that the goal of the GOP is to make sure Obama is a one-term president.  They have no desire to negotiate with him.  They have no plans to raise the debt ceiling.  They just as soon America default and Obama get the blame.  That's what they want.

That's why when Eric Cantor says talking to the president in the first place is a concession he really meant it. Just sitting down with the president ticks off their base and can cause huge repercussions.

It all boils down to this:  President Obama is not just an ideological different.  Or simply just a member of the opposition party.  They really believe he's an enemy of the state who is trying to destroy America from within.  Would you vote for someone's policies if you thought they were destroying your country? Of course you wouldn't. In order for this country to survive, Obama has to go.  It's that clear. That's their message.  Republicans are simply Freedom Fighting fiscal conservative trying desperately to keep this country together until we get Obama out of here.  Meanwhile, Democrats are fighting back with wonkish talking points and cries that the president isn't doing enough to secure their goals.  Fighting two totally different battles.
