Republicans Are Still Disillusioned About the Iraq War as Ever
I realize there is no chance Rick Perry is going to be the GOP nominee. He's a miserable person and a pitiful excuse for modern elected officials. But that doesn't keep him from repeating the same sorry lies his party routinely spouts about the war in Iraq.
A person would have to be living on a completely different planet to not realize Bush's war in Iraq wasn't just unpopular "with the Democrats." No war has ever been as unpopular as Bush's blunder that gave us almost 9 years of death and destruction in Iraq. Every poll in the world clearly shows that an overwhelming majority of Americans hate the war and do not support it. A staggering 3/4 of Americans support President Obama's decision to end the war and bring our troops home by the end of the year. He has kept that promise.
The best thing a person could do who claims to support the troops would be to get them out of a war we never should have been in in the first place. Throwing a parade is childish. Rick Perry and his Republicans still can't stomach the fact their legacy is the failure of Iraq and trillion dollars deficits. It's taken a Democratic president to get our troops out of Iraq, bring the budget deficit back under $1 trillion and kill the person responsible for 9/11.
Maybe it’s because this war isn’t popular with the Democrats, I don’t know... But Mr. President, our soldiers come first. It comes before party politics. We need to welcome our soldiers home. Give them that parade. Give them that pat on the back.

Quickies
- Been at home tending to sick twins for the past couple days. They seem to be feeling better today so maybe I'll get a chance to catch up on all that I missed.
- Over the course of the weekend, prior to the twins getting sick, I was busy watching my St. Louis Cardinals win the World Series!!! I meant to post about it sooner but never got around to it. Go Cards!
- It seems, too, that my familial distractions forced me to miss Herman Cain's latest revelations that he sexually harassed two women. I'll be honest on this one, I don't care if he did or didn't. This is the sort of stuff that turns politics into soap operas. However, if you're going to run for president it's fair game. To be brutally honest, it's not going to matter one bit. He wasn't going to win the nomination in the first place. There is no way the GOP would nominate a black man. The whole thing distracts us from the real issues facing this country. So I'm glad the media will have something else to talk about other than unemployment and the president's jobs bill. Wheee!!!
- It's entirely possible Rick Perry was drunk or had just gotten high with Rush Limbaugh during this speech in New Hampshire. The dude is a total whack job.
- How is Jon Huntsman even considered a Republican? He's by far the most rational and proven candidate in the race. I guess that's why he doesn't stand a chance at getting the nod.
Quickies
- GDP growth almost doubled in Q3.
- Euro leaders reach a debt deal.
- Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) says America is the land of upward mobility especially when compared to Europe. Of course he's dead wrong on that.
- According to this chart, my tax liability under Rick Perry's new plan, would decrease by about $2,000.
- According to the same chart, people who make much less than me and have families will see their tax liability go up under Perry's plan. Kind of puts me in a dilemma.
Perry Says His Tax Plan Will "Set Our People Free"
This afternoon I'm going to read up on Rick Perry's new tax plan for America. Policy, like this, is really what keeps me involved in politics. After all, it's policies that are the true judge of any administration. Like I said on a Facebook discussion one time. Sure Reagan claimed he supported small government, sound economics and slashing budgets. But he never did any of that. Same for George W. Bush. The same can be said about any modern Republican administration. There is no segment in their political history at which they can point to and say here is when we governed the way we campaign.
That brings us to the very first thing I read this afternoon about Perry's newest tax plan.
(CNN) - Rick Perry said Tuesday his plan of giving Americans a choice between their current income tax rate or a 20% flat-tax would "set our people free" from burdensome tax law.Of course he said it that way. Everything thing they do is a REVOLUTION!. They are constantly fighting evil, islamosocialistliberalfascists, and anti-Americanism. You know, the people who don't agree with them.
I wouldn't expect Perry, or any Republican, to say anything different about any single policy proposal of theirs. They are a brutally oppressed people downtrodden by the enemy occupying our country. Everything they do is simply to fight against tyranny and bring freedom to all. If you disagree with any of it, your love for this country is highly questionable.

Rick Perry: Book I Wrote Last Year Does Not Reflect Current Views
Last year Rick Perry authored a book about modern American society and where, according to him, it all went wrong. In it, he talked about many things including how socialism is destroying America, how child labor laws, Medicare, Social Security, and nearly all social programs are illegal because they violate the Constitution. The book is a blueprint on how Perry views America and how he envisions it will look under his leadership.
He is so determined to get people to read his book and learn about his ideas for America that when asked on the campaign trail how he will fix things he routinely uses his book as a reference by stating, "get a copy and read it."
The only problem with all this is his blueprint for America is very unpopular. No worries though. As a Republican he is allowed to coexist in two different universes. One is reality-- where you are currently reading this post and where Perry gets to write a book calling for the dismantling of the 20th century and smiles on teevee. The other "alternate reality" is where Perry writes a book calling for the complete repeal of Social Security, child labor laws, Civil Rights Act, Medicare and many other programs and gets to pretend that his book "is not meant to reflect the governor’s current views."
