It's the same tired story, no matter the topic. Reality tells us one thing and Republicans completely invent a fantasy to tone it out. There may be no greater or better example of such Republican anti-reality dwelling than the 2012 election. For years Republicans told us there was no way Obama could get re-elected. When every poll ever conducted showed Obama winning easily, Republicans invented the "skewed poll theory" to escape reality. Fox News led the way in reporting the skewed stories. Republicans cheered it on as they completely believed that the polls were tilted in favor of Obama and that they had exposed it to the world and had the election in the bag.
As the world knows, Obama coasted to victory. The polls weren't skewed. They were nearly exact. Those who were wrong, so wrong that they looked like complete idiots, were the Republicans and their media organization for trumping such biased, unrealistic stories in the first place. But remember, when you live in an alternate reality totally consumed with the belief you are superior to everyone else, and that everyone else hates America, you can pretty much be wrong constantly and it never really matters. Thus we have the all new and improved GOP 2014 Polling Guidelines. Good luck with that.

It's a good thing he's not pro-choice or he would have lost
Remember Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-TN)? He's the pro-life, pro-family values, pro-Jesus, God-fearing and tea bagger backed Congressman from the Bible Belt of Tennessee. He's also a medical doctor. Back in October I wrote about how he asked his constituents to please judge him by his morals and values from his second marriage only. Honestly, it's what Jesus would do.
The good people of his District did what God told them to do and reelected DesJarlais by a huge margin. And now that his campaign is over and his reelection is final, a Tennessee court finally released DesJarlais' divorce records, which Democrats had been pushing for months. Luckily for DesJarlais there's nothing in those records that should hurt his standing as a man led by God, chosen by Godly people to represent them in their fight against the persecution of Christianity's moral values.
Those records merely indicate that, in addition to being caught on tape in 2000 trying to convince his mistress (and former patient) to have an abortion, that he had slept with two patients, two coworkers and a drug representative. He also testified that he approved of his wife's decision to have two abortions in the 90s.
Like I said, nothing at all that should hurt his standing in the God-fearing, moral values-centered Republican Fantasy World. They're all insane. Everyone one of them.

Paul Ryan: When Republicans Lose it Really Means Neither Side Won
Anyone who thought President Obama's reelection by wide margins would finally convince Republicans that Americans agreed with his policies have to be banging their heads against a wall after reading this.
Couple quick things that are just really stupid for Ryan and his GOP to assume. First off, Democrats are the majority. They have the Executive and control the upper chamber of Congress and also added seats in the house. That means Dems control two out of three institutions of government. They are the majority.
Secondly, if Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan had won by one vote-- just one single vote, Republicans would have been calling it a mandate. They would have been saying their one-vote victory is proof Americans want their policies enacted and enacted as soon as possible. Check out this Times article from back in August clearly stating that if Mittens wins, he gets a "mandate" to push through his policies. But guess what? Mittens lost, lost big. So what does that mean? The other guy's huge win doesn't constitute a mandate whatsoever, in fact it means neither side won. Mandates are only when Republicans win elections.
“I don’t think we lost it on those budget issues, especially on Medicare,” the former nominee explained. “We clearly didn’t lose it on those issues. I think what people want us to do is tackle the country’s problems, and what I got out of this is they don’t want only Republican ideas or only Democratic ideas, they want us to come together for common ground and to work this out.”
“I don’t know if I agree with that because we have divided government,” he remarked. “They also voted for House Republicans to maintain their majority, which took a very clear stand against that.”Only in the Republican Fantasy World does losing a major election mean you still get to enact your policies.

Shellshocked by reality
Startling read from CBS News last night about just how unprepared Team Romney was for defeat on election day. The story reports not one person in the Romney camp had any thoughts about losing the election. In fact, they were "shellshocked" to see the evening unfold the way it did.
I won't get into all the details here because I don't have much time this morning to cover it. But the big consensus is how could a huge campaign for the most powerful office in the world be so wrong? The answer is so simple that I think many people are overlooking it. It all boils down to the alternate universe created by Fox News. They truly existed in their own reality where they believed they couldn't possibly lose.
Sometimes I refer to this co-reality as the Republican Fantasy World. But whatever you want to call it, it's real. It is a dimension with its own facts, its own data, its own media, its own reality. The Romney Camp operated entirely engulfed in this universe never once peaking out to view reality.

It's a world where they believe the unemployment rate has been fixed by the administration to help his reelection. Where Obama gave guns to Mexicans so they would commit crimes here and he could finally institute his gestapo to come and take away guns from every American people. It's a world where they believe the president's approval rating was in the low thirties. Where the polls were being skewed in his favor to ensure his reelection. They are told all this stuff and much, much more every second of every day on their Fox News teevee sets. So the question is, how could you not believe you were going to win when you're whole life is consumed by a false reality?

It's total farce to suggest Romney had a 5-point lead going into Frankenstorm. No truth to it at all. Only Fox News' "unskewed polls" showed Romney with that kind of lead. None in the reality-based community ever projected such a spread.
They will keep saying this, though. It makes them feel better. It makes them think they didn't lose the election based on ideas and policy. They lost it due to an act of God that no one could control; and from betrayal.

Think Progress has an excellent list of some of the brazen commentary on the right and how confident they were of a big win.
My favorites:
1. Dick Morris: “This is going to be a landslide.” The former Clinton adviser predicted a dominant Romney win, calling it “the biggest surprise in recent American political history.” Claiming that polls were oversampling Democrats, Morris wondered if “it will rekindle the whole question on why the media played this race as a nailbiter.”
3. Karl Rove: “At least 279 electoral votes.” “It comes down to numbers. And in the final days of this presidential race, from polling data to early voting, they favor Mitt Romney,” Rove wrote in a WSJ op-ed ignoring the fact that most polls showed growing momentum for the president. He predicted that Romney will win 51 percent of the popular vote and “at least 279 electoral votes.”
5. Larry Kudlow: “Yes, that’s right: 330 electoral votes.” CNBC personality Larry Kudlow bet Romney would “sweep the Midwest,” a point on which Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio beg to differ. He was so excited about his prediction that Romney would get 330 votes that he repeated it twice — despite the fact that he was making the call two weeks out from the election.
8. Dean Chambers: “The race has shifted profoundly in favor of Mitt Romney.”It appears the election has unskewed the unskewer. Chambers, the proprietor of the famous “correcting biased polls” UnskewedPolls.com, made two predictions before the election. While both obviously called a Romney win, the first one predicted a landslide — 359 electoral votes, even larger than Barone’s — the second, more sober assessment called a more modest 275. Chambers may owe Nate Silver, whom he described as “a man of very small stature, a thin and effeminate man with a soft-sounding voice that sounds almost exactly like the ‘Mr. New Castrati’ voice used by Rush Limbaugh on his program” in what appeared to be a takedown piece, something of an apology.
9. Newt Gingrich: “A Romney landslide.” The former House Speaker predicted that Romney will take 53 percent of the popular vote and at least 300 electoral college votes. “My personal guess is you’ll see a Romney landslide, 53 percent-plus . . . in the popular vote, 300 electoral votes-plus,” Gingrich said. He also predicted that Republicans “may come very close to capturing control of the Senate.” He apologized for the faulty call the morning after the election.
My particular favorite is #8 Dean Chambers, who looks exactly like you think he'd look. What a POS. He could not have been more wrong. Of course that's presuming Fox News viewers will actually be told that they were lied to. Not a chance actually. Instead they will be told that all their "unskewed polls" were correct right up until the hurricane hit and that changed everything. It's a lie to cover a lie. They will never be told that there was absolutely no reality to their belief that Romney had this in the bag and would win big. Their world will consist of a hurricane that changed history, Black Panthers and rampant voter fraud. Oh and media bias. The election was stolen again.
Dick Morris Triples-Down
No doubt Dick Morris hasn't a clue as to what he's talking about. Yet the right wing crazies love him. They pay him millions to appear on Fox News and tell them things they want to hear. Things like how Mitt Romney is going to win in a "landslide." You would think after being so wrong about so many things Republican Fox News viewers would have caught on to Morris' idiocy Oh no, they'll take his attempt to save face and largely blame his incorrectness on Hurricane Sandy and Chris Christy as the gospel truth.
But the more proximate cause of my error was that I did not take full account of the impact of hurricane Sandy and of Governor Chris Christie’s bipartisan march through New Jersey arm in arm with President Obama. Not to mention Christe’s fawning promotion of Obama’s residential leadership.
It made all the difference.Ummm you're still wrong little Dick. You're just as wrong as you have always been. There is no poll in the nation showing the hurricane swung the election to Obama. Obama was leading in electoral polling and in popular vote before the storm hit. The only polls, the only data that didn't show this were Fox's "unskewed" idiot polls. In other words, the polls Republicans swore up and down were the correct ones that turned out to be embarrassingly wrong are still what Republicans are pinning the reasons on for their huge losses. It's truly insane.
Easily Obtainable Data Destroys Fox News' Fantasy World
Yesterday I made my journey to the Republican Fantasy World to get a glimpse of how things are going for the people who believe Iraq had something to do with 9/11 and that George Bush was a popular president. Let me just say I wasn't surprised in the least.
Their big story was what they believed was a huge Obama flip flop on turning the economy around. As only Fox News could:
Economic data, however, suggests the complete opposite of what Fox News is reporting.
Since Obama made those comments to Matt Lauer in Feb. 2009:
*the unemployment rate has fallen from 8.3% to 7.9%. That's progress.
*the Dow has increased 6,200 points or 85%. That's the largest gain in the Dow since FDR. That's progress.
*GDP has risen 28.2% to an all time high. That's progress!
*corporate profits are at their highest point in history. Dare I say PROGRESS?
*And the deficit is smaller now than when Obama took office.
Obama has turned the economy around. It's plain as day. There's not one single economic indicator that isn't better now than when Obama took office. To deny this is to deny reality. And that's exactly what Fox News is doing. They want their viewers to believe that things are no better or are worse off than February 2009. There's not one single ounce of truth to such a notion, however. Anyone who breathes oxygen can easily see that Fox News has a vested interest in lying to its viewers and creating a Fantasy World for them to exist with their own set of made up facts.
The president absolutely lived up to what he told Matt Lauer in February 2009. Progress has been made. The economy has definitely turned around. Things are better now than in February 2009, by a long shot actually.

To see just how bad things were in February 2009 check this Free Enterprise post out. Consumer confidence was at 37.7 it's worst measure ever at that time. Today it's almost doubled to 72.2, its best measure in 4 years.
New home sales decreased 15% to 331,000 units. Today new home sales are at 389,000, up 15% since February 2009.
Again, just more data proving progress has been made since Obama's Matt Lauer interview in February 2009. It would take an idiot to suggest otherwise. Or someone who refuses to live in reality, which would be idiotic in every sense of the word.

This is proof to Fox News and Republican voters that Obama said himself he should only have one-term and deserves not one more day to continue his policies because in their world things are worse. Actually in their world, things are the worst they have ever been and we are on the verge of economic collapse.

The Good Ol' Days
Eric Boehlert reaches back to the sacred dark pits of ancient history and remembers what is was like when criticizing a sitting War President, during time of war, on foreign policy issues was frowned upon by the MSM and the hacks at Fox News.
I'd like to add my own little throwback to antiquity. I fondly remember a time when criticizing the president only aided our enemies and to do so was "anti-American." Gosh, it almost seems just like yesterday that dissent was un-patriotic. I guess things have really CHANGED.

GOP Fantasy World in Full Swing
It's almost like the Republicans never lost the White House in 2008 and have been in charge this whole time.
Reality: President Obama, upon entering office in 2009, refocused American efforts away from Iraq and onto Afghanistan and the hunt for bin Laden. Such policy-- totally ordered by the current president-- resulted in a successful early morning raid in 2011 that killed the al Qeada leader responsible for 9/11. No doubt the greatest foreign policy success, if not the greatest war success since America's victory in WWII.
Republican Fantasy World Version: President Obama deserves no credit. It was all because of George Bush.
Reality: In January 2009, after taking the Oath of Office, President Obama was faced with a crucial issue with huge economic consequences. The U.S. automotive industry, especially General Motors, was facing collapse. The TARP funds approved by President Bush had already loaned the industry billions, including Ford Motor Co. But GM needed the federal government to purchase majority ownership for the company to pass its bankruptcy restructuring mandates. The Obama administration agreed to the purchase and the federal government became majority owner of General Motors. This proved to be a huge success and saved the entire industry from implosion. Since Obama's policy of saving GM, the company has recorded some of its largest profits ever. The American Auto Industry is Saved.
Republican Fantasy World Version: Mitt Romney takes credit for the auto industry rescue and its successes.
If you can make and influence policy this successfully without being in the White House, why are Republicans even running for office this year? Why don't they just keep doing what they're doing, it seems to be hugely successful and resulted in some of the greatest accomplishments in modern American history. And they've done it all without actually being in charge.

Reckoning Sure Is a Bitch
I love this stuff. Absolutely love it.
Kristen Billy, who has returned as predicted by the love letter he wrote to us, has, once again, tried as hard as he can to invoke his Republican Fantasy World argument to shield his favorite president from any blame for crashing the country into a ditch.
Here's the thing. The deficit, no matter the amount, is from George Bush. He created it. He inherited the largest surplus in American history. And what did he do with it? He turned it into the larges deficit in American history. And during that time, not one word from Kristen Billy or any other Republican for Bush's recklessness. Billy didn't care at all. He loved it. He cheered it on. They all did. Just this week Sen. Rubio called Bush "fantastic." They do not acknowledge the fact that George Bush created a $1.5 trillion budget deficit and that he is responsible for $7 trillion of the federal debt. They pretend it never happened.
Billy can't stop there, however. He tries to say the '09 deficit was due to the recession and nothing to do with Bush. What about the 2010 and 2011 and 2012 deficits? Oh no, those are Obama's so the economic crisis had nothing to do with that. That's pure and complete fantasy.
It's true the economic crisis depleted government revenue because of the massive job losses. And as we all know, unemployment is still above 8%, which drastically reduces current revenue thus it's a continuing scourge on the budget. But not according to Billy. He specifically says it's "Obama's spending, Obama's decisions on tax rates, Obama's decisions on defense spending, etc." Total lie. He's a chronic liar brainwashed by Fox News.

For further proof that there hasn't been a huge spending increase from Obama, take a look at this graph and post I brought up a few weeks ago. It completely sums up everything Billy The Retard is trying to say right now.

Kristen Billy, who has returned as predicted by the love letter he wrote to us, has, once again, tried as hard as he can to invoke his Republican Fantasy World argument to shield his favorite president from any blame for crashing the country into a ditch.
The trillion dollar deficit in '09 was due to the Great Recession, not Bush's tax cuts or wars. Today's deficit is a function of Obama's spending, Obama's decisions on tax rates, Obama's decisions on defense spending, etc.
And you thinly the next year's deficit has nothing to do with the previous year? Disagree - it influences the next year but the people in charge have the ability to change fiscal policy to improve the shortfallAs if the deficit wasn't already huge and as if Bush hadn't already ran 7 previous budget deficits prior to 2009. But in Kristen's world, a world where Iraq had something to do with 9/11, none of that matters.
Here's the thing. The deficit, no matter the amount, is from George Bush. He created it. He inherited the largest surplus in American history. And what did he do with it? He turned it into the larges deficit in American history. And during that time, not one word from Kristen Billy or any other Republican for Bush's recklessness. Billy didn't care at all. He loved it. He cheered it on. They all did. Just this week Sen. Rubio called Bush "fantastic." They do not acknowledge the fact that George Bush created a $1.5 trillion budget deficit and that he is responsible for $7 trillion of the federal debt. They pretend it never happened.

Individual Mandate is as Republican as God
The individual insurance mandate, which requires virtually all Americans to obtain health coverage or pay a fine, was the brainchild of conservative economists and embraced by some of the nation’s most prominent Republicans for nearly two decades. Yet today many of those champions — including presidential hopefuls Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich — are among the mandate’s most vocal critics.Now since it was passed by a Democratic Congress and signed by a Democratic President, Republicans claim the mandate is socialism, tyranny, unconstitutional and will force people to die.
What's also interesting about the mandate is that Republicans used the mandate as the central element in an alternative against Bill Clinton's 1993 health care reform efforts. Yes, that's right. Republicans submitted an alternative plan against "HillaryCare" as a way to use what they claimed to be market-based approaches to reforming the nation's health care system.

Last night Sean Hannity promised and delivered never before seen footage of a young Barack Obama engaging in a radical speech designed at instigating racial tension in America. Hannity had been hyping the never before seen footage since the death of Andrew Breitbart last week. Breitbart had possession of the tape but kept the video hidden on purpose as he announced at this year's CPAC wanting to only to slowly leak it out as we got closer to November. His sudden death changed that plan.
Hannity and Fox News hyped the video as a central theme of Obama's indoctrination that has been hidden by the mainstream media. They claimed the MSM had kept the video under lock and key to keep the wool pulled over the public's eyes. Last week when News Corpse released the video on their website, Breitbart's team released a scathing statement that the video had been selectively edited and did not show the radicalization of Obama's ideology. The media, again, was hiding the real Barack Obama from the people.
So last night Hannity showed the whole unedited version for the first time ever. Well, kind of. PBS had already aired the entire unedited version in 2008. The whole tape, all of it, has been up on YouTube since 2008 as well. Nothing in it is secret. Nothing in it has been kept under lock in key by the MSM to protect Obama. What in it is so disturbing that has the right wing lunatics demanding be shown to the public? In the video a young Obama hugs a tenured Harvard professor who had taken a leave of absence to protest equality at the university. Get that. He hugged a black professor who was protesting the tenure process at Harvard. Wait, maybe you didn't read it correctly. While in law school at Harvard, Obama is on video speaking nicely about another black man who was a Harvard professor that claimed the school's tenure policies were not equal to minorities. He gave a nice little speech and hugged him. He hugged him. He hugged the black professor.

Dear Fold Blog; I have tried to stay away but I can't. My affection is too strong and it's too emotionally exhausting to keep trying. In the many months since reading the blog I have found myself yelling back at my Fox News teevee set; not even watching all of Hannity's show; catching myself referencing and linking back to the site; and not even tuning my car to AM to listen to my former crush Rush Limbaugh tell me what I should think and say about America. Don't think you are some sort of rogue healer though. There's only one rogue patriot in this country and I think we all know who that is. You have helped me ease back to reality; albeit slowly and with a caress I haven't felt since entering a bathroom stall with Sen. Larry Craig. Sure you have smooth hands but not near as smooth as was Ted Haggard's before the Lord healed him. Nor do you have the beauty of prose Rep. Mark Foley has from his sweet texts to me. Yet this is a journey with affection worth savoring.You all will remember Kristen Billy is well known for his multiple personality disorder where he frequently tries to comment under other assumed names like Rachel, Middle Class Bill, Kristen, Paul, Guest, Sanity, Shanks, etc... What he's probably best known for, though, is his insistence George Bush didn't create a $1.49 trillion deficit; that a mention of a projection (which is used daily by Washington) negates all economic and budget arguments. That a situation a president inherits is meaningless. And don't forget the biggest Republican Fantasy World point ever made: looking at Bush's entire 8 years in office and not freezing time in 2007 when things were decent, is inaccurate and creates a false sense that Bush was a disaster for the country and not fiscally responsible. It looks like he still has a way to go but we applaud the progress. But sorry Billy, we'll leave the tea bagging to you Republicans.
